Determination, freestyle, electricity. Organic and crispy sounds, exploding in thousands of colours. Rhythmedelic pleasures. Anarchic organised art. Noise/Pop/Dance/Punk/Tribalism/Avant-garde. A well-defined, yet so indefinable sound. So Beast is all of the above, and so much more. The Bologna-based duo has its debut with “Kira”, released in December 2016 by Californian label Time Released Sound. Two years later, the band is praised at European level thanks to “Fit Unformal”, released by a consortium of Italian, German and Croatian labels. As terse and fierce as it is, “Superblack” EP introduces So Beast’s newest sonic fascination. That is to say, a renewed interest in harsh and obsessive rhythms, combined with the exploration of sound and radio art. The 5 tracks straddle the ridge between improvisation and experimentation. The sampler leads the way, guiding the movements of synths, keyboards, guitars and voices as they outline a non-standard sonic body. Percussions are the engine driving the whole process, well hidden in a secret dark room. A room where the black tone sports an unexpected range of shades.
